Hey, I am having some technical difficulties that have stopped Project 17 like your momma was stopped when she tried to get into Studio 57. However, after being inspired by a friend, I am unveiling a new project, The Submission Project. Here is how it works: e-mail a picture to submissionproject@gmail.com and I will post it with a haiku on http://haikuprojects.blogspot.com/. Each e-mail must contain only one picture (repeat only one), each picture may only be submitted once per person, and if the picture is in sufficiently bad taste, it will be returned to the sender. (Feel free to test my boundaries on this, but as a general rule I won't include any pictures that, were I to publish a book containing such pictures, would ban it from a bookstore such as Borders).

Book Arts

So I finally got back on Blogger and had to reset my password, etc. in the process. What fun... :-/

I am making books for my Book Arts class at Hampshire. This next one is a stab binding and I finally came to an idea that I liked for the content: all my sketched of my dream house. It will be a collection of sketches and thoughts about the functionality of a home and my ideal abode. I will post updates and photos soon.

Hey, I'm not sure what the deal is, but the poems I posted before are getting extremely few comments (read none). I'm hesitent to post more before these have been dealt with. I understandthe excuse of busyness, but it's been more than enough time in my mind. Do you find that these are just not resonating with your experience of life? I'de like to know if these are just so obscure as to be incomprehensible. Sock it to me. I'm a big boy and I can take it.

Two silhouette paintings, the beginnings of a series. I am trying to access traditional New England imagery and decorative arts. These are the type of paintings I hope to enter in the "Close to Home" exhibit, although I will be making a new one for that. What do you think?

I started a blog mainly for non-artistic writing but I thought I'd share it anyway. The last entry is a little dismal. Thanks to my dad I am getting a little more excited about the retreat. Imagine 20 youth making cards...lots of cards...for four days. EXCITING! But if anyone else has ideas about the youth winter retreat pass them on. Josh, Carrie, Ben, and I are doing it this year.

Welcome to Compost!

If you made it to this blog, it's probably because you received an invitation in the mail offering a working group for writers and artists at First Baptist Church. This blog will be an arena to post work, written and visual, that you want comments on. It will also be where Hilja and I post information that all of Compost needs access to, like the instructions below.

Many of you may be very blog-savvy, but if you are a newbie like me, you will find the following instructions helpful. Once you have decided that you want to be a part of Compost and emailed me, this is how you will be able to participate in this blog:

1. Create a username and password at www.blogger.com. If you already have one, you don’t need to create a new one.

2. When I know that you're interested in Compost, you will receive an email from www.blogger.com inviting you to join the Compost blog. Click the link within the email and use your username and password to join. You will have only one chance to register with our blog after you have clicked that link, so make sure you have a username and password first! If it gets messed up somehow, email me so that I can invite you again.

3. To post any time after this initial sign-up, you will go to www.blogger.com and sign in. After signing in, you will go to the “Dashboard.” The first thing listed on this page is our blog. It says “compost” and has a green plus sign which you can click to make a post.

(There are also links to other blogs, Blogger information, and stuff like that on this page. You can ignore them or navigate around and see what other blogs have to say.)

4. When you click the green plus, you will go to a screen that looks a lot like an email program. You can do all the normal text-editing stuff, as well as editing the HTML if you’re really savvy.

5. When you have finished composing, click the orange “publish post” button. This is how your post becomes visible at compostgroup.blogspot.com. Make sure that you select the option to allow comments, as this is how we will be able to respond to each other’s work.
